Description

Blechnum cycadifolium is one of my favourite of all ferns all ferns having gone to see it in its native habitat on Robinson Crusoe Island part of the Juan Fern?ndez archipelago back in 2005.

These magnificent ferns grow on very steep hillsides and cliffs of volcanic rock, in the open, especially near the sea but up to 1,000 metres elevation. Its fronds have a wonderful tough, leathery look and really do look like cycad leaves when they uncurl.

They are extremely rare to cultivation and therefore we presently only have small numbers available. Must be pre ordered.

Hardiness: Medium range of hardiness. Most probably the same hardiness as Blechnum tabulare, maybe sligghty hardier. I would estimate it is hardy to around -6 celsius.
